Vintage French Oval Oil Painting of Anemones in Giltwood Frame, Signed, 1967
A small French oil on board of anemones in a glass vase, red, coral and soft pink with their dark, ink-blot centers. They're painted quickly and generously, as anemones tend to demand. The background is a pale, chalky gray, which lets the flowers do all the talking, and the brushwork is thick enough to read across a room.
It's signed lower right, as signed "S. Taillier," and sits in a deep oval giltwood frame with stepped moldings and a warm, slightly worn gold leaf. The reverse is backed in blue felt and inscribed "1967," and it's ready to hang.
A cheerful little painting for a powder room, a bedside wall, or a gallery wall of other small, cheerful things.
