Antique Paul Milet Sèvres Porcelain Vase with Gilt-Bronze Mounts, c. 1911–1930
Antique Paul Milet Sèvres Porcelain Vase with Gilt-Bronze Mounts, c. 1911–1930
A beautiful petite antique vase by Paul Milet of Sèvres, France, dating to the early 20th century. The porcelain features a lovely soft celadon-green glaze with subtle variation throughout, accented by ornate gilt-bronze swags, bows, and classical detailing.
The underside bears the MP Sèvres mark within a dotted circle, associated with Paul Milet’s production in Sèvres. Milet came from an important family of French ceramicists and produced his work at the family manufactory in Sèvres, separate from the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres.
At one time, the vase had an additional bronze mount around the upper rim, which is no longer present. There is visible surface wear and some glaze/paint loss around the rim where this mount once sat. Otherwise, the vase remains in wonderful antique condition, with no chips or cracks.
A special little piece of French ceramic history—and absolutely beautiful displayed on its own or tucked into a collection of antique porcelain and objets.
