An absolutely extraordinary antique French wedding armoire dating to the early 19th century. This is a truly special piece of French history and craftsmanship, and the kind of substantial, beautifully detailed antique that is exceptionally difficult to find here in the United States.

The armoire features an exquisite hand-carved façade adorned with intricate floral garlands, decorative medallions, and romantic botanical motifs. The front bears a carved date beginning with “18,” a wonderful detail that adds to its historic charm. Traditionally, French wedding armoires were commissioned or gifted to newlyweds to celebrate the beginning of their marriage and new household.

Finished in a beautiful, distressed turquoise-blue paint, the armoire has incredible character and presence. The carved details are highlighted by the finish, showcasing the remarkable craftsmanship throughout. The interior features generous wooden shelving, making this piece as functional as it is beautiful.

This is a very substantial piece in excellent antique condition, with age-appropriate character and wear. The upper cornice is removable to assist with transportation.
