Antique French Gilt Bronze Double Oval Frame with Blue Moiré Silk

A small French double frame in gilt bronze: two ovals side by side, each edged in fine beading and reeded borders, joined at the top by a cast bow of acanthus. Inside, panels of slate-blue moiré silk ripple like water, ready for two photographs, two miniatures, or two very small people you are equally fond of.

It's the right size for a dressing table or a bedside. The gilding is warm and bright, and it suits the cool blue silk very well.
