Antique French Gilt Bronze Frame

A small French oval frame in gilt bronze, edged in a crisp beaded border and set on a scrolling rococo base that looks as though it was poured rather than cast. Inside, a panel of deep burgundy moiré silk waits for a photograph, a miniature, or a small pressed flower. It's also perfectly good left as it is, just a little window of claret silk.

The back is finished in textured gilt with a hinged easel, so it stands neatly on a desk, a dressing table, or a bedside. The gilding is bright and warm, and the scrollwork catches the light from every angle.
