19th Century French Porcelain & Bronze Casket

A beautiful 19th-century French porcelain casket, richly decorated with hand-painted floral details, intricate gilt ornamentation, and elaborate bronze mounts.

The porcelain body features a delicate blue and gilt latticework pattern, with tiny leafy garlands creating an almost textile-like effect across the surface. Hand-painted floral reserves of pink, purple, yellow, and turquoise blossoms decorate both the front and lid, surrounded by scrolling gilt borders. A broad textured band of gold along the lid gives the piece an especially luxurious presence.

The porcelain is set within an ornate gilt bronze framework, complete with decorative trim, an elaborate foliate clasp, and four beautifully cast scrolling feet. The interior is finished in white porcelain with an additional hand-painted rose tucked inside the lid—a charming detail revealed when the casket is opened.

The casket is unmarked, as many French decorative porcelain pieces of the period were. Its combination of finely decorated porcelain and elaborate bronze mounting is characteristic of the luxurious decorative objects produced in France during the 19th century.

There is age-related wear to the gilt and bronze mounts and minor imperfections consistent with age, all contributing to its wonderful antique character. Please review photographs closely for condition.
