19th-Century French Palais Royal Sailboat Perfume Casket

An extraordinary 19th-century French Palais Royal perfume casket, whimsically designed as a petite sailboat. Crafted from luminous shell with delicate gilt-metal fittings, the piece is complete with its charming sail, tiny anchor, original perfume bottle, and miniature pocket watch.

The perfume bottle rests within an ornate gilt-metal mount and features a lovely reverse-painted architectural scene on its cap. It retains its original glass stopper and is in beautiful condition with no chips or cracks. The miniature pocket watch hangs alongside, creating the most delightful little vignette.

While originally intended as a luxurious perfume accessory, the shell-shaped base would also be wonderful for holding rings or other small pieces of jewelry on a dressing table.

The piece is in excellent antique condition overall, especially remarkable given its delicate construction and age.
