A delicate and evocative piece of 19th-century history, this framed set of antique calling cards captures the elegance and social ritual of the Victorian era. Featuring two original cards—one engraved simply as “Mrs. John Perry,” and the other, more ornate, inscribed “Elizabeth Perry” with elaborate botanical embellishments—this composition reflects both the formal and personal nuances of women’s identity during the time.
Calling cards, or visiting cards, were once a cornerstone of polite society, exchanged during social calls to convey one’s presence, gratitude, or intention to visit. These particular examples have been beautifully preserved and professionally matted, displayed beneath glass in a vintage giltwood frame with gentle patina that only time can bestow.
An ideal decorative accent for a writing desk, gallery wall, or gift for the lover of ephemera, genealogy, or women’s history.
Dimensions: Approx. 8.25” x 6”
