Each oval aperture (2.5” x 1 7/8”) is elegantly surrounded by finely detailed gilt bronze beading and crowned with an imperial crown motif—a symbol beloved by Russian aristocracy and the Tsardom. The frames connect via an ornate gilt bronze hinge mechanism adorned with cabochon malachite accents that beautifully echo the stone panels.
The entire piece measures 3” tall by 6” wide when opened, making it an intimate yet luxurious treasure for a gentleman’s desk or lady’s dressing table. The back cases are finished in gold-colored metal and bear a hallmark with a star, strongly indicating Russian origin.
