Antique Armorial Wax Seal — Coronet Crest, Turned Wood Handle & Brass, 19th Century
A 19th-century desk seal of the kind that once closed correspondence no one was meant to read twice. A turned wood handle, worn to a deep walnut patina, seats into a ringed brass collar and a heavy brass matrix below.
The matrix is the event here. Pressed into wax — shown in deep viridian — it strikes a full armorial: a shield set within an ornate rococo cartouche and crowned by a coronet, the field worked with charges in fine, confident relief. No monogram, no initials — a complete coat of arms for a house we can't name, which is rather the point. The cut is deep and clean, and it still seals beautifully.
The wood carries honest age — light surface marks, the soft sheen of a handle held for a century or more. Structurally sound, the impression crisp and complete.
